The author of the Mimoza release Kostya Kokokei is also a co-founder of the Mestnost label, a one-of-a-kind publishing company. Mestnost passes the musicians and their work through a sieve of local culture, in which they grew up. For him, the context is as much a part of the idea of any music piece as the author’s vision or a set of samples and synthesizers used during the recording process.
The release was recorded in a remote southern village. The undisturbed and unspoiled scenery reenergized Kostya, who left the Belyaevo district of Moscow with its conceptualist history and opted to spend some time in the country’s southern region among its beautiful pristine hills. Kostya went from one trip to another in an attempt to find himself. It was a process of diving deep into spirituality, leaving all the worldly stuff behind and attempting to part with his ego in order to see the world, things, the reality itself in a different light and lose himself in this real vision of life.
